What Exactly Is 'Zen Organizing'?
I began using the phrase 'Zen Organizing' several years before I actually sat down and wrote my book ("The Zen of Organizing: Creating Order and Peace in Your Home, Career and Life"). You don't have to become a Zen pracitioner to profit from my book or this web site. The 'Zen of Organizing' refers to the creation in your home or work area of a calm, peace filled, joyous environment. 'Zen Organizing' will benefit you no matter what spiritual path you have chosen to walk.

I recognize a 'Zen Organized' environment the minute I enter one. It's the feel of the room, not just its appearance. If you follow the guidelines in my book and at this site, you too will experience what it means to be 'Zen Organized.' Alone in an office that invites your best efforts, cooking in a kitchen that seems to hand you the tools you need, falling asleep in a restful bedroom, you will suddenly smile and say to yourself, "Oh, this is what she was talking about."

Of course, you may not believe in a Higher Power. The amazing feature about organization is that it allows one to be in control of one's environment. This in turn lends itself to control over one's life. We live in a cause and effect universe and, as we consciously change the causes we set in motion, the more desired effects result. And this yields power. I have yet to meet any honest human being for whom the words 'power' and 'control' were not a form of aphrodisiac. They can be used to gain mastery over the temptations of life that form an impediment to one's quest for God, or they can help you run for political office. It is certainly not my place to judge.

It can be said, therefore, that my book and this web site are dedicated to helping two groups of people: those who believe in God and those who do not.
